Situated on the doorstep of the Freycinet National Park, Sheoaks on Freycinet was purpose built to ensure minimal impact on the pristine environment. The passive solar building nestles unobtrusively into its waterfront site, providing guests with year round comfort and ever changing views over Great Oyster Bay. Sheoaks hosted B&B accommodation is in three en suite rooms catering for up to six guests, who have their own access. A dedicated guest sitting room and a large deck overlook the bay. This separation ensures guests’ privacy, yet the hosts are close by if required.
A careful blend of modern, coastal and antiques, Sheoaks’ atmosphere is casual, comfortable and affordable - definitely not a clone of any other accommodation. Guests are able to unwind, leaving the cares of their working lives behind. Service is always there, but it’s unobtrusive. Without hovering, Margaret and Alan ensure that guests know it’s just a matter of asking for their needs to be met; be this special dietary requirements, a load of washing dealt with, information about the area’s history, flora or fauna, where to see birds, where to eat that night, how to book for an activity, or simply how to use the free WiFi.
Delicious breakfasts include many choices featuring seasonal local products and are served at a time of guests choosing. Evening meals are available by arrangement; something much appreciated by older guests and those who have travelled a long way. Packed lunches for walkers and gourmet lunch hampers to celebrate special occasions are also popular.
Birders take note - this is a haven for spotting! Yellow-tailed black cockatoos, green rosellas, kookaburras, superb fairy-wrens, yellow wattle-birds ... the Sheoaks tick list is endless. Your hosts are amateur bird watchers and can provide bird lists, field guides and binoculars and assist with identification.
Margaret and Alan also manage seven self catering houses in the same area.
