Quamby Estate

Quamby Estate is a beautiful, privately owned ten-room homestead set in 150 acres of gardens. Since its recent acquisition by the former founder of Virgin Australia, Quamby, which dates back to 1938, has been transformed into a sophisticated but decidedly in-the-moment boutique country hotel a 20 minute drive from Launceston, Tasmania’s second city.  It has been furnished throughout with an eclectic collection of art and antiques. This is a delightful bolthole from the city - lovely for some gentle walking, fishing - it is close to some Tassie's top fly fishing lakes and rivers - biking, tennis and golf, all on the property.  Sir Richard Branson even holds Golf Membership Number One on the Quamby Golf Course!  Quamby is also the start and finish point for two of the Great Walks of Tasmania, The Cradle Huts (Overland Track) Walk and the Bay of Fires Walk, so if you have a yearning to experience Tasmania’s great outdoors you can dust off your walking boots in the knowledge that while you may be about to get close to nature and the elements, luxury and indulgence awaits.
