Central Highlands Lodge

Located on the edge of the Great Lake, Australia’s biggest freshwater lake in the little settlement of Miena, this is the gateway to Tasmania’s Central Plateau and the land of 3000 lakes, some of the best trout fishing in the Southern Hemisphere if not the world.  Cheerful, well priced, warm accommodation with lovely rooms, this is the traditional gathering spot and watering hole for Tasmania’s fishing community, keen to discuss the day’s catch over a cold beer or warming glass of Tassie Pinot. The Central Highlands Lodge even has its ow private lake. Crisp mountain air, sun rising over the mountains, sparkling lakes filled with brown and rainbow trout, abundant bird and wildlife – what more can a fisherman or woman ask for.
