Activities & Experiences

Tasmania is probably one of the greatest destinations in the world with a climate, landscape and diversity that lends itself perfectly to exploration by foot, bike, boat, and seaplane. Even whilst fishing in pristine streams in the remote wilderness gives you that indescribable beauty.

Nowhere else offers the stunning diversity of landscape - narrow, windy country roads with minimal traffic, scenery that changes with every twist and turn of the road, exotic wildlife and birds everywhere you look. If you love being on the water, nothing beats the peaceful exploration under paddle power along the secret rivers, lakes and coastline of Tasmania.

Wildlife and Birding Tours

Wildlife and Birding Tours

Wildlife in Tasmania is abundant, unafraid, often unique to the island, and hence for the most part relatively easy to spot. Compared to the mainland and other popular wildlife-spotting destinations, the animals are often exceptionally easy to get close too.

Tasmania also has some of the best wildlife guides and world-class wildlife sanctuaries which are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing wildlife, and to educating others, locals and visitors alike, about the need to be vigilant and responsible. Read more...

Walking

Tasmania is Australia's walking state and in fact is probably one of the greatest walking destinations in the world with a climate, landscape and diversity that lends itself perfectly to exploration by foot.

With nearly fifty per cent of the island protected by World Heritage or National Park status, vast swathes of land both impenetrable and uninhabited by people, the power of nature that dominates a land lying forty degrees south in the Great Southern Ocean is not to be understated, and of course unguided walkers need to keep their wits about them - which is why there has been such a proliferation of guided short and long walks developed in the last few years. With hundreds of miles of tracks and trails from ten minutes to ten days, anyone from those with limited mobility to the super-fit should slow their pace of travel down and enjoy the joy of the great outdoors.

If you love to walk, you will love Tasmania. Read more...

Gardens

“If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden”, wrote Frances Hodgeson Burnett in The Secret Garden. Nowhere is this truer than in Tasmania.
